Alvis Murry Simpson, 91, of Poteau, OK. went to be with the Lord on March 22, 2020 in Poteau, OK. He was born on December 30, 1928, in Cecil Arkansas to Elbert “Burt” Simpson and Cora Shetterly Simpson.
Murry was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired accountant with Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Company. Murry was a member of For His Glory Church in Fort Smith.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeanie Simpson; two brothers, Eland and Ralph Simpson.
Murry was survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Jack Jedlicka of Poteau, OK; two grandchildren, Shaden Jedlicka of Oklahoma City, OK and Mikey Black of Fort Smith, AR.
Murry was an active member of the Downtown Sertoma Club for many years, serving as a director, treasurer and president. He was also active in Sertoma International.
Graveside service will be 1 PM, Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith, AR. Viewing will be from 8 AM till 5 PM Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Edwards Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to For His Glory Church, or the charity of their choice.
