Alberta Grace Lynn
July 7, 1929 – July 4, 2019
Alberta Grace Lynn, 89, of Lavaca, Arkansas passed from this life July 4, 2019 in Van Buren, Arkansas. She was born July 7, 1929, in Carbon, Iowa, to the late Chester A. and Alta May Hunter Ruth. Alberta is the widow of Dr. Robert J. Lynn. Alberta was raised in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. She graduated from Clarkson College of Nursing in Omaha Nebraska. She and her husband started a practice in Ord, Nebraska where their children were born. Alberta served as Hospital Administrator for a time as well as an office and surgical nurse. Dr. Lynn enjoyed flying and thought it would be a good idea to have a co-pilot. Alberta obtained her pilot’s license and she and the family took many flights for vacations and visiting family and friends. Alberta and her family enjoyed outdoor activities together; golfing, fishing and hunting. She was an avid bridge player, gardener, and a very good seamstress. Alberta and her husband retired to Marble Falls, Texas. She moved to Lavaca, Arkansas in 2015 and lived there with her daughter until her passing. Alberta was a friend to and admired by many during her long life. She is greatly loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Mom's message to the family: "Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was-I am I, you are you and the old life we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged, whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes the we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an instant, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well." Alberta is survived by her daughter Karla Lynn; her son Robert James Lynn II and his wife Kim; granddaughter, Ashley Foti and her husband Jared, their sons Luke and Parker; grandson Robert J. Lynn III and his fiancé Hannah Brister, their son Robert IV; granddaughter Elizabeth Lynn and her fiancé Derek Boutin; and her nieces, Tami Monroe and Lori Doty. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brothers Chet and Jimmy Ruth. Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday July 8, 2019 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be 3:00pm Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Oakland Cemetery at Quincy near Corning, Iowa. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Bert was a pleasure to be with, so witty and fun. She made us laugh especially when we played Chicken Foot. Thank you, Karla, for sharing her thoughts, and thank you Bert for those thoughts. I will remember you with fondness.
