Archie was born to Irene and Archie Goins on October 22, 1957 at Clark Air Base, the Philippines.
After graduating Spiro High School in 1975, Archie enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably for four years. He married his wife, Nina Jo Schrimsher, in 1976. In 1979, Archie joined the Fort Smith, Arkansas Police Department where he served with distinction for 27 years , retiring with the rank of Major. He served concurrently in the Air National Guard, and was deployed to Iraq in 2005. Archie retired from the Air National Guard in 2016.
An avid learner with a keen mind, Archie was seemingly forever in a college classroom, studying a wide variety of subjects. He earned his B.A. from the University of Arkansas, Ft. Smith.
Archie was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Irene Goins.
Archie is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Nina Jo Schrimsher Goins; sons, Travis Goins of Spiro, Oklahoma; and Christopher Goins (Amanda) of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; four beloved grandchildren, Cameron Goins; Destini Goins; Bailey Goins; Kaylei Goins; three sisters, Sherry Milligan of Tulsa, Oklahoma ; Linda Spencer of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; Kathy (John) Horn of Fort Smith, Arkansas; four brothers, Rev. James Goins of Oklahoma City; Michael Goins (Chandra) of Duncan, Oklahoma; Bobby Goins of Mena, Arkansas; David (Gerry Ann) Goins of Spiro, Oklahoma, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Archie was a member of Harvest Time Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. A man of traditional values, Archie loved the Lord, his country, his family, and OU football.
Funeral services will be held at Harvest Time Church, Ft. Smith, on Thursday, September 10, with viewing at 9 am and service at 10 am. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery, Ft. Smith, Arkansas at 1 pm.
