Barbara Lou Jean Taylor

Barbara Lou Jean Taylor, 78, of Barling passed away on February 10, 2022 in Fort Smith. She was born May 1, 1943 in Madison County Arkansas to Arthur James Hattabaugh and Daisy Hollingsworth Hattabaugh.

She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Taylor of Ft. Smith, AR and Donna Remer of Gore, OK; four grandchildren Ian Taylor, Cassandra Williams, Zachary Williams, and Kelten Remer, and 12 great-grandchildren; 6 brothers and sisters James Hattabaugh, Leroy Hattabaugh, Mary Jo Mounce, Sue Mounce, Sharon Kay Casey, and Charlene Madewell all of Northwest Arkansas . She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Taylor and her parents.

Lou Jean was a lifelong homemaker who loved to look after her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and any visiting friends of theirs who happened to be at her house.

She spent many hours drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes at her kitchen table talking to her friends on the phone or in person, and could always be counted upon to help anyone in need. Her family and friends were the center of her universe. She will be greatly missed.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Brannon Mountain Cemetery in Madison County. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
