December 25, 1925November 13, 2021

Berta Jo Farrier Steinmetz, 95, of Poteau, Oklahoma passed peacefully November 13, 2021. She was born Christmas Day in 1925, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, to Bert Windsor and Josephine Jackson Windsor. Following the death of her first husband, Bill Ferrier, Berta went back to school and earned her nursing degree. As fulfilling as nursing was, it didn’t come close to the joy she felt being a mother and grandmother. Berta was of the Christian faith.

Berta’s family would like to acknowledge and give praise to Dr. Henry and staff, Hope’s Creek Retirement Living and Heart of Hospice for the care provided to their mother and grandmother.

Berta is survived by two daughters, Laura and Dan Beam of Poteau, Oklahoma and Sandra and Bob Ely of Venice Florida; sister Shirley Talley of Edmond, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Andrew, Brant and Lauren Gomez and Sara, Kari and Daniel Beam, as well as three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, second husband Raymond “R.C” Steinmetz, and two sisters Freda Manchaca and Clara Goodman.

The family will greet friends from 4:00pm to 6:00pm Monday, November 22, 2021 at Edwards Funeral Home. Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Berta was a very special lady who brought my father much joy. She was one of the wonderful nurses who always cared for people including my father. She probably added 20 years to his life due to her love, and caring for him as he aged. She will be truly missed, but is in a much better place now in the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Berta Jo was my dad’s true love of over 30 years. She was the sweetest woman I have ever met. Always fun to talk to and we had a great time together when I came home to visit. She is truly missed.
