Bertha Humble

Bertha Barker Humble of Fort Smith, Arkansas was born August 8, 1922 in Arkoma, Oklahoma, the daughter of Eugene and Julia Loyd Barker. She died October 15, 2018 in Hospice Care at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith at the age of 96. She retired as a supervisor at Weldon, Williams & Lick in 1984 and was a lifelong member of the Primitive Baptist Church of Arkoma.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas J. Humble Sr.; and their son, Billy Eugene Humble; sisters, Tilda, Myrtle, Margie, Elsie, Sally, Eula Gene, Alice; and a brother, Johnny Eugene; grandsons, William Hagedorn and Dwight Craig.

She is survived by one son, Thomas J. Humble, Jr. & wife Carol; one daughter, Julia Humble Craig & husband Kendall; daughter in law, Cheryl Humble; eight grandchildren, Angela Humble Hagedorn & husband Brian, Todd Humble & wife Minta, Angela Abernathy George & husband Tim, Eric Humble & wife Jenny, Brandon Abernathy & wife Joy, Bradley Abernathy & wife Charity, Josie Humble Hudson & husband Brandon, and Kyle Craig; fifteen great grandchildren, Brooklyn & Braden George, Madeline, Caitlin, & Lillian Hagedorn, Lauren & Ashley Humble, Audrey Hudson, Aiden Humble, Isaac & Wyatt Abernathy, Jacob, Seth, & Remi Abernathy, Jenisi Craig; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1:00pm Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Steve Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018 at Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Todd Humble, Eric Humble, Brandon Abernathy, Bradley Abernathy, Kyle Craig, Tim George, Brian Hagedorn and Brandon Hudson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Smith, Loyd McBride, Steven Reed, Shannon Reed, Ronnie Stokes, Floyd Burnett, Bill Gupton and Bobby Brown.

In lieu flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
