Betty J. Merrywell

Betty Jo Merrywell, 80, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed from this life March 6, 2014 in Fort Smith. She was born September 6, 1933 in Rudy, Arkansas to the late Walter and Thelma Bowman. Betty worked in retail and after her retirement she actively volunteered at Heart to Heart Pregnancy Center. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a member of the Immaculate Conception Ladies’ Auxiliary. She is survived by two daughters, Patty Frala and husband Dennis of Fort Smith, AR and Bethany Davis of Greenwood, AR; two sons, Paul Merrywell and wife Teena of Johnson City, TN and Steve Merrywell and wife Mischelle of Fort Smith, AR; nine grandchildren, Sarah Wray of Tulsa, OK, Chris Merrywell of Oklahoma City, Robyn Brashier of Greenwood, AR, Eden and Erin Hester of Fort Smith, AR, Jack Merrywell of Lawrence, KS, Ashley Davis of Fort Smith, AR, Kaylee Banning of Fort Smith, AR, Josh Davis of Cabot, AR and one great grandson Noah Foster-Merrywell of Fort Smith, AR. Betty is preceded in death by her husband Jack, her husband of 60 years, and son-in-law Randy Davis. Funeral Mass will be 10:00am Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at Fort Smith National Cemetery. Rosary will be 6:00 PM Monday, March 10, 2014 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will follow the rosary service from 6:30 to 7:30pm. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
