

Heaven’s gates opened to receive a precious new angel. Betty June Nichols, 79, of Pocola, Oklahoma died December 21, 2015 at Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith. She was born an only child in Draw, Texas to Leslie and Jewel Cook on July 3, 1936.
She was the widow of R.C. Nichols, of the Methodist faith and attended Trinity Baptist Church in Pocola, Oklahoma. She was retired from Sparks Health System and left a legacy of service and caring amongst her peers.
She touched so many people with her love and compassion and was friends to many and will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Barbie and Tommy Moses and Ronald and Genie Nichols of Pocola, Cynthia (Cindy) and Ken Hulsey, Greg and Kathy Nichols of Fort Smith, and Michael and Kim Nichols of Cromwell, Connecticut. She had nine grandchildren, Christi Smith, Danielle Shaw, Wayne Moses, Michael Nichols, Whitney Bailey, Tara DiSorbo, Jennifer Crawford, Ian Bray and Steven Hulsey. She had 8 great grandchildren, Devin and Kylee Smith, AnnaClaire, Holden and Bradney Shaw, McKinzee Moses and Abby and Sidda Hulsey.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday December 23rd at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith with burial to follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Pocola, Oklahoma under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Family will visit with friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kyle Shaw, Bryan Bailey, Nick Crawford, Michael Nichols and Matt DiSorbo, nephews Terry and Tony Nichols and longtime family friend Allen Sowers.
Honorary pallbearers are Jim Janaway and Jerry Chapman.
