

Born on November 14, 1932, in Sikeston, Missouri, Bill was the only child of Bill and Lilian (Weeks) Acord.
Bill married Joann Larkin in 1971, and together they celebrated 55 years of marriage this year. Known for his outgoing personality, Bill made friends wherever he went. He had a passion for skeet and trap shooting, and he and Joann traveled throughout the United States competing in shooting events. One year at the World Shoot in San Antonio, Texas, he and his team all shot 500 straight without a single miss. Bill also proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lilian Acord.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joann Acord; his sons, James Acord and David Acord; his grandchildren, Rylan, Alexa, Kally, Amber, and Hailey; and five great-grandchildren.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Methodist Village for the compassionate and exceptional care they provided Bill during his time there. They also wish to thank the members of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for their kindness, prayers, and unwavering support.
A memorial service honoring Bill's life will be held at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 3501 Rogers Ave, Fort Smith, AR 72903, on August 22, 2026 at 11:00am. Following the service, there will be a reception in the Disciples Hall.
