Charles Stephen “Steve” McIntosh, age 72, died June 14, 2021, at his home in Van Buren, AR, from prolonged complications of kidney disease.

Born and raised in Fort Smith, AR, Charles attended Southside high school, and upon graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as an IC - Internal Communications Electrician aboard the USS Putnam DD-757 and the USS Saratoga CV-60. Honorably discharged in June 1976, Charles embarked on a career in the wholesale HVAC industry from which he retired. Charles had a tough exterior, but he was a loyal, warm friend to all who knew him. He liked to play as hard as he worked. He was quietly generous and charitable to those in need. Charles enjoyed coaching and supporting youth baseball teams as well as giving to various veterans causes.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Stephani and son-in-law Joseph Patrick of Spring, TX; his first cousins: John T. McIntosh and wife Judi J. of Fort Smith, AR; Dale T. McIntosh and wife Teena of Midlothian, VA; Carol Ann Edwards of Alma, AR; former spouse and mother of their daughter, Susan Benson (neé Sampel) of Seabrook, TX; a choice group of friends, and his beloved boxer, Bochus.

Interment of his ashes will be at Fort Smith National Cemetery.
