My sister was a pretty amazing person. I could share a thousand memories, but one of many that changed my life is when I knew I needed to move back home to care for our mother but I was struggling with how to make it happen. She said “Just come. You can stay here until you get things worked out. I can promise that you will never go hungry and you will always have a roof over your head; everything else will come together.” And she and her husband basically built a whole other room out of their back living room, moved their room in there, moved their daughter to what had been their bedroom, and gave me the front bedroom. Let me paint it purple and made me feel at home. And that explains how big my sister’s heart was. One story out of many like that. I ended up only staying for a short while because I found a job in mom and dad’s town and was able to move in with them to care for her. But still, my sister turned her household upside down just to give me a place to stay. That was always her. She also had a way of giving me strength even when I was thousands of miles away. Her reach was always greater than her arms. I love you sissy. You will be severely missed, but I know I can always reach for you and feel your arms giving me strength.
