Christine Seavey, 88 of Fort Smith passed away peacefully Christmas Morning, December 25, 2017. She was born October 24, 1929 in Boston, MA to the late Hugh and Anna Cameron. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith. She graduated from St. Margaret Nursing School in Boston.
Chris was married to the late Edward “Ted” Seavey on June 12, 1954 and celebrated sixty-three years of marriage. They raised seven children and blessed with her “precious jewels”; fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Chris was aware before she passed away that three great grandchildren would arrive in 2018. Chris was a school nurse at the end of her nursing career and was awarded the “Golden Apple Award” from the Fort Smith Public Schools.
Mom’s favorite past-times were spending time with family, sitting in front of the ocean, knitting, watching old movies, going on cruises, and having special occasion gatherings at her home. It was most appropriate that Mom went to her Heavenly Home on her favorite holiday, Christmas. She will be remembered for her love of children and children with special needs, and her devotion to family and her faith in God.
All are invited to the following services in celebration of Chris’ eternal life: Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with the Rosary to begin at 6:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Father Les Farley will preside with Father Pius Iwu concelebrating and Deacon Greg Pair assisting.
Chris is survived by her seven children; John Seavey (Kathy), Anne Seavey, Cathy Hutchinson (Matt), Eunice Eble (Rich), Christina Alves (Tom), Frances Knight (Bryon), and Eddie Seavey. Chris is also survived by her sister Catherine O’Leary and Brother Edmund Cameron as well as her “precious jewels”, her twenty-two grandchildren including their spouses and nine great-grandchildren.
