Clem Patrick Egleston

Clem Egleston was born on November 8, 1945, in Hot Springs, AR to Ray Isaac and Clara Mae Egleston. Clem grew up on his family’s farm in Mount Ida, AR with his parents and 4 sisters. He attended Mt. Ida High School (Class of 1963) and then attended Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. Clem graduated from Henderson University with a degree in Business & Marketing. Some of Clem’s most redeeming qualities were his warm, friendly nature (he never met a stranger) and his exceptional gift of long and colorful conversation.

Clem was a parishioner of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church for much of his married life and served as a member of the vestry. He and his wife, Lisa, were one of the first couples married in the chapel that was added to the church in 1972. Clem and Lisa were happily married for over 54 years.

Clem’s early career was spent at Rheem Manufacturing and within the transportation industry where he worked as a sales manager. After 20 years in the transportation industry, Clem used his technical skills and business knowledge to open his own heating and air conditioning business. For over 31 years, he worked as a HVAC Business Owner and Contractor where Clem was best known for his strong work ethic, a helping hand, and his dependable service. Beyond his profession, Clem found immense joy in cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks with his wife, Lisa. He looked forward to watching the Razorbacks play any and all sports, but his favorites were basketball and football. Clem’s other great hobby was hunting with his son, Ryan, near the Mt. Ida area where he grew up. One of Clem’s greatest joys was spending time with his 3 precious granddaughters: Sophie, Lilly, and Hadley. His granddaughters adored him, as well.

Anyone who knew Clem was touched by his kind, patient, and laid-back temperament. He was incredibly generous and would go out of his way to help others. Some of Clem ‘s nicknames include Brother (he had 4 sisters and was the only boy in his family), Uncle Brother (he was called by nieces & nephews), and PeePaw (by his 3 granddaughters that loved him dearly).

Clem is preceded in death by his parents Clara Mae & Ray Isaac Egleston, his in-laws Harold & Aulsie Peacher, his niece Amy Adams Gowan, his niece Kelly Peacher, his sister-in-law Carol Peacher, brother-in-law Don Adams, and his goddaughter Elizabeth Fortune.

He is survived by his loving wife Lisa Egleston (of 54 years), son Ryan Egleston of Little Rock, daughter Sarah Alexander (Bryce) and 3 granddaughters (Sophie, Lilly, and Hadley) all of Little Rock. Sisters: Geneva Adams (Don) of Bristol, TN, Alta Simpson (Jim) of Collierville, TN, Melody Spurlin (Craig) of Mt. Ida, AR, Edna Mae L’Herault of Hot Springs, and Kerry Egleston Weaver (Randy) of Keller, TX. Brother-in-laws: Dean Peacher of Collierville, TN, Denton Peacher of Covington, TN, and David Peacher of Kingwood, TX.

Nieces & Nephews: Eric Peacher (Crystal) of Germantown, TN, Mike Adams of Bristol, TN, Catherine Simpson Aslin (David) of Germantown, TN, Scott Spurlin (Jean) of Prince Edward Island, N.S., Canada, Jesse Spurlin (Darcy), Andrew Spurlin (Rebecca), Victoria Meals (Cory), and Meghann L’Herault.

Clem Egleston was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. We will all miss him more than words could ever express.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 1:00 pm, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, 201 North 12th Street, Fort Smith. The memorial service will be at 2:00pm, following the visitation.
