Cody Dewayne Thompson, 39, of Fort Smith, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010. He was born January 17, 1971 in Fort Smith to Iona and Dewayne Thompson. He was a practicing Attorney. He attended Fort Smith Public Schools where he excelled in sports at Ramsey Junior High, Southside High School and American Legion Baseball. His family moved to Springfield, MO his senior year of High School year where he played baseball and graduated from Glendale High School. He then attended Labette Junior College in Parsons, KS on a Baseball Scholarship. After graduating from Labette Junior College he continued his education at UCA in Conway where he received an Academic Scholarship, continued his baseball career and was a member of UCA Honors College. After graduating from UCA he went to UALR Law School in Little Rock.
Memorial service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at Community Bible Church with Rev. Kevin Thompson and Matt Whitson officiating. Memorial service and cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife Gina, son Jagger Doss Thompson of the home, parents Iona and Dewayne Thompson of Fort Smith, brother Mark Thompson of Fort Smith, mother and father-in-law Lana and Danny McGrew of Fort Smith and brother-in-law Ross McGrew of Fort Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Hightower, Chris Dooly, Kevin Minks, Brian Meadors, Candice Settle, Jason Moore, Lance Thompson, Scott Thompson and Steve Cox.
