Connie Jean Hixson

Connie dedicated her career to education, serving in schools throughout the Fort Smith and Little Rock areas. She most recently taught at Northside High School until her retirement in 2016. She was a member of the West Ark Church of Christ and Senior's Group at Grand Avenue Baptist Church.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford Joseph and Willie Estelle Borden, and her brother, Jeff Borden.

She is survived by her four children: Denny & Nancy Hixson, John Hixson, Mark & Sandi Hixson, and Sarah & Josh Weaver. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Addison Hixson, Avery Hixson, Ava Hixson, Joseph Hixson, Andrew Weaver, and Natalie Weaver. Additionally, she is survived by her niece Beth Cowen, nephew Brent Borden, loving sister-in-law Twyla Lensing, and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A visitation where family will greet friends will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 North 12th Street, Fort Smith. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Private family graveside service will be at Hall Cemetery.
