Courtney Pruitt, 36, of Fort Smith passed away on September 14, 2015. She was a beloved daughter, sister, friend, and devoted Christian born on October 8, 1978 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Jerry Damon Pruitt and Cynthia Marian Pruitt.
Courtney graduated from Southside High School and recently earned her Masters in Counseling from John Brown University, to help those struggling with mental illness. Courtney worked at BOST as a counselor helping families and individuals and was a member of NAMI, National Alliance on Mental Illness.
She attended The Vineyard Church and enjoyed worship and fellowship with her church family. Courtney loved spending time together with her three sisters and parents. Her hobbies included many outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking and camping. She also loved music, crafts and cooking.
She is survived by her parents, Jerry and Cyndi Pruitt; her sisters, Heather Black and husband Chris, of Dublin, OH, Shannon Shoptaw of Bella Vista, AR, and Lindsey Pruitt of Rogers, AR; her nieces Jordynne and Lexi Black, and Katelynn Shoptaw; as well as her nephews, Hunter, Alex and Connor Shoptaw.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church Sanctuary. Service and cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home
