Pat and family.  We were saddened to learn of Dan’s passing.  We have wonderful memories of singing in the choir with you both at Faith UMC.  We pray for comfort and peace for all of your family. We have a prior commitment on Friday and will not be able to attend the service, but you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Dan was an Amazing man and The Best Neighbor. You couldn’t have asked for a better neighbor. Dan was always willing to help in every way. We will miss Dan in the neighborhood. My prayers for Pat and the family. Praying for the peace that surpasses all understanding. RIP Dan. See you when I get to Heaven. Love you buddy. ❤️🙏🏼

I don’t have to tell you that Dan was a wonderful man.  Incidentally I grew up in Paragould Arkansas when Dan was a band director.  He was very involved in the Arts in Paragould and my sisters and brother were blessed to have him as a band director.

My sister Gayl Gray plans to share this sad news with friends that were also in the band.

Dan touched many, many lives and his smile could light up a room.

I met Dan when he was a music education student at Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA) when I was a child. In those days, my parents, Homer and Virginia Brown, hosted the whole band at our house for burgers and “Homer Beans.”  Dan was a very successful band director in Arkansas. He thought his career was over after his motorcycle accident which cost him a leg. My father convinced him he could still teach band, even if he couldn’t demonstrate marching techniques. 

I had the opportunity to have Dan as one of my supervising teachers during my internship. I learned more from him than the other two supervisors put together. He was a gentleman, a kind soul, a brilliant musician and exemplary teacher. He is greatly missed.

The Croom Family has so many fond memories of Dan. Teaching with him was such a joy. His passion for teaching, music and students was contagious!! Such a dedicated professional.  He will be dearly missed. We hope his family finds peace and comfort during this difficult time 😇

Dan was my 7th grade band director at Central Jr. High in North Little Rock in 1977. It was good to reconnect with him when I came to the Ft. Smith area to teach. It felt like life had come full circle. He has had such a positive influence on so many. I hope as a teacher that I have passed on a little of his legacy.

I am so sorry to see this. Mr. Woodward was one of the biggest influences in my life. He taught me more than just music. He taught me discipline and respect. He taught me how to believe in myself and that hard work pays off. He was so proud of every success I achieved. His knowledge and talent has touched so many lives. I pray for his family and loved ones that they find comfort. Mr. Woodward was a legend and he will be missed.
