

David Bernard Burgess of Spiro, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, March 30th at the Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City. David was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on August 15, 1963. He was preceded in death by his father Lester Bernard (Bernie) Burgess, his paternal grandfather, Lester and his maternal grandparents, George and Helen Whitewater Osman.
David is survived by his wife Michele, his mother Carol, paternal grandmother Lillian, brothers Marcus and Michael, his sister Whitney and a niece Brittney. Upon graduating from Arkoma High School, he proceeded to Oklahoma State University where he majored in business. His interest in technology led to the computerization of the Burgess Company, where he was employed until his death. His business expertise helped guide his family through the difficult times after his father’s death. David’s sense of humor, patient understanding of human foibles, love for humanity and his kindness will be remembered by his family and friends. The meaning of the name David is “beloved” and so he was and always will be to his family.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, April 4, 2013 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Andy Brown, Randy Campbell, Wilbur Barton, Mike Weyrick, Tony Sharp, and Frankie Slavens.
Memorials may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church 1820 North “B” Street Ft. Smith, AR 72901.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
