I was so sad to hear that our friend David had passed away and when I say our friend im speaking for all of us at Comet Cleaners/Valet Cleaners on Old Greenwood Rd 3 years ago. When I left the cleaners, so did David my loyal friend and customer. He had the biggest heart of anyone I knew. He has done so much for my family and we are all truly blessed to have known him, and Sonya my heart goes out to you as you have lost an amazing companion and we all miss you. Heaven gained an incredible teddy bear! You are gonna be missed dearly.

I met David in Russellville when I was a deputy prosecutor and David had just taken over Western Arkansas Legal Aid. We were kindred spirits having both served in the Army in Vietnam and we became good friends. I have David to thank for my move to Fort Smith. My law partner had lost his re-election bid as Prosecutor and I was without a job. David told me about the Public Defender job opening and I applied. I am so sorry I will not be there for the funeral because I am out of the country but will be there in spirit.

Sonya & family,
I was shocked this morning to see David’s obituary in the paper. I can’t imagine life without that big teddy-bear-of-a-man around here anymore. He definitely was a gentle giant, and generous almost to a fault. I will never forget meeting him for the first time in his office for a job interview, then going to work for him about a week or so later … which was the beginning of over 4 years of working together on his cases … then through the intervening years seeing him about town at various times … once at Calico County with Jenee … seeing you both several times at Williamsburg Kitchen … it’s hard to imagine that I won’t see him again around town. He will definitely be missed!

I thought of David as a gentle giant. Loved when he did children’s time at church. Praying for his family. Along with the grief I know they are celebrating his life and sharing some great memories. 💙💙💙
