

David W. Pillar, 66 of Fort Smith, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014. He was born on July 12th, 1948 in River Grove, IL to the late Edward and Alice Pillar. He was a retired service technician for Sears, Roebuck & Co., a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Barling, a member of the Knights of Columbus; he was a Boys Club coach and an assistant troop leader for the Boy Scouts.
Rosary will be said 6:30 P.M. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with a visitation to immediately follow the rosary. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 8, 2014 at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Barling with burial to follow at Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife Susan, of the home; his daughter Tracy Lynn Burns and her husband Stephen, of Barling; two sons, Matthew David Pillar and his wife Saige, of Van Buren and Douglas Martin Pillar and his wife Jenny, of Barling; a sister, Janet Gosch and her husband Paul, of Hackett; two brothers, Edward David Pillar and his wife Bunny, of Lombard, IL and Daniel Joseph Pillar and his wife Jeanne, of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Tony Meeks, Leo Sharum, Larry Sharum, Steve Core, Paul Rivaldo, Sheridan Douglas, Brian Nicely and Matt Rodebush. Honorary Pallbearer will be Douglas Brown.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Fort Smith Boys and Girls Club, 4905 North O Street, Fort Smith, AR 72904.
