Doris Ann Worden, 88, of Benton, formerly of Fort Smith, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022. She was born on April 27, 1933 in Fort Smith to the late Leonard and Anna Marie Simmons. Doris was retired from Arkansas Best Corporation, where she worked in payroll. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a Master Gardener. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Richard E. Worden and two sisters, Rose Marie Mickelson and Aggie Doss.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Barling, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is survived by two daughters, Laura Worden of Fort Smith and Diane Worden Gammill of Alexander, AR; two sisters, Sue Baber of Huntsville, AL and Linda Peters (Jim) of Davison, MI; two brothers, Lawrence Simmons of Hackett and Leonard Simmons (Pat) of Barling; two grandchildren, Whitney Holden (Ben) of Benton and Ashley French (Julian) of Salem, AR, along with two great grandchildren, Claire Louise Holden and Henry Worden Holden.
Pallbearers will be Philip Doss, Randy Spradley, James Glass, Joe Ledford, Josh Palmer and Steve Core.
Family will greet friends from 5:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home, Rosary service will be at 6:30 P.M., immediately following the visitation.
