Dusan Pejic was born in Karanovac on July 2, 1941. He went on to be with the Lord on January 24, 2016. Dusan was the son of Savo and Petra Pejic of Karanovac. He attended high school in Bosnia and attended 2 years at Sorbonne in Paris, France. Dusan served in the Yugoslavian army, which was obligatory for all men. When Dusan migrated to the United States, he did not speak English, but that did not stop him. He studied English at the Adult Education Center, watched United States television, and read all the Western books he could obtain.
Soon after coming to the United States, he became the owner and operator of Pilgrim Construction Company. There was no job to large for Dusan Pejic, and because of his work ethic and personable nature, he became one of the most prominent businessmen in Fort Smith, Arkansas’s construction industry. As a matter of fact, he was known to chase fire trucks in order to get jobs to provide for his family. When Yugoslavia was in the throws of war, Dusan organized bringing many of his family members to safety in Canada to avoid the atrocities of war between the Serbians and Croatians. Dusan took very good care of his family here in the United States and abroad. He considered it his responsibility to care for his own and everyone he came in contact with whether they were rich or poor, he considered his own and he felt it was his responsibility to assist them in improving their lives. Dusan participated, funded, and organized the construction of an Orthodox church in Bosnia, which is dedicated to his mother, Petra Pejic. Whatever Dusan Pejic’s hands found to do he definitely did it with all his might.
Dusan Pejic is survived by Susan Pejic, his loving wife of Fort Smith, AR; his son, Peter Branko Pejic of Washington, DC; his daughter, Tonja Dusanka Pejic of Fort Smith, AR; and his only grandson, Channing Edward Pejic of Little Rock, AR. Dusan is also survived by his sisters, Ruza Zelenkovic of Toronto Canada, Cvijetin Pejic of Paris, France, Milos Pejic of Karanovac, Bosnia. In addition, and not to be forgotten, Dusan had one other brother who is deceased by the name of Bozo Pejic.
