Edward A. "Ned" Harper

.Edward A. “Ned” Harper, 77, passed away August 24, 2010 in Fort Smith. He was retired co-owner of the Fort Smith Stockyards, and had worked as a salesman at several automobile dealerships. He was one of the founding members of the Fort Smith Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, was a member of the 1951 graduating class of Fort Smith High School, and was an active member of the Rodeo Fair Board for several years. Ned was an avid golfer at Ben Geren Park, and enjoyed following the Northside Grizzlies and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

He is survived by his wife; Sydney of Fort Smith, AR, 1 daughter, Amanda Heim and husband Steve, of Fort Smith, AR, 1 son; Bert Harper of Bentonville, AR, 9 grandchildren; Greg Heim, Eric Heim, Drew Heim, Matt Heim, Caleb Douglas, Annalise Heim, Addison Heim, McKenzie Douglas, and Angie Hetherington, 3 great-grandchildren; Gavin and Deacon Heim, and Kate Hetherington.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Douglas.

Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be; Mark Douglas, Butch Snow, Dr. Steve Heim, Wally Gattis, Earl Hutson, and Don Bandy.
