

Eleanor Schenk Riser died March 17, 2016. She was born Feb 10, 1931 to Joseph R Schenk Jr and Margaret Erman Schenk in Fort Smith. A devout Catholic she attended St Boniface School and St Anne's Academy where she was football homecoming queen. She attended Ft Smith Junior College where she was a cheerleader. In 1952 she met and married Roger M Riser of Yazoo City, Mississippi while he was stationed at Camp Chaffee. They were married until his death in 1999. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the IC Ladies' Auxiliary which she dearly loved. She was an avid reader and dog lover, especially Dalmatians. Her greatest life's work was raising 4 good children as she often proclaimed. In later years when most retire she went to work as a realtor and then PBX operator at Sparks Hospital where she continued working part time until age 80.
Eleanor is survived by her 4 children: daughter Gail and husband Shannon Bradney, sons Randy and wife Stephanie, Rodney and wife Kathy, Robert and wife Lori.
Grandchildren: Rory Bradney and wife Molly, Dr Laura Bradney, Rachel Riser, Renee Riser, Regan Riser, Cody Walters, Michaela Walters, Lauren Sallee, and Hunter Sallee.
Great granddaughter: Ruth Ann Bradney. Brother: Kenneth and wife Louise Schenk and their children Kenny, Kelley, and Emily Moody. Her best friend since kindergarten: Jody Conger. Last, but not least, her beloved dog Rufus. Special thanks to Dr James Henry, Judy Riser, and all the wonderful caring nurses and aides of Sparks 4 Central.
Rosary will be said on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 6:00 PM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with visitation following from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Mass will be said on Tuesday, March 22,2016 at 10:00 AM in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pall bearers include Kenny Schenk, Kelley Schenk, Dr Fred DeMiranda, Dan Bradney, Bill Bradney, David Morton, Cody Walters, Nicholas Schelm, and Chris Moody.
Honorary pall bearers are members of the IC Ladies Auxiliary.
Memorials may be made to the Sebastian County Humane Society or the Immaculate Conception Ladies Auxiliary.
