Elmer Julius Hogrefe, 86, of Cameron, OK passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013, in Fort Smith. He was born March 26, 1927 in Fort Smith, AR to the late Julius and Frieda Hogrefe. He was a retired mechanic from Fort Chaffee. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the Arkansas Army National Guard 2nd Battalion 142nd Fires Brigade after forty years of service. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fort Smith and the German-American Club in Fort Smith. He enjoyed following NASCAR. He was preceded in death by his wife Bettye Marie Hogrefe and a son Kirk Hogrefe of Cameron, OK. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Monday, November 4, 2013, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with Pastor Allen Stuckwisch officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will be at Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. He is survived by three daughters Julie Heavener of Rock Island, OK, Debra Hogrefe Griffin of Greenwood, AR and Ingrid Titi of Van Buren, AR, one son Fred Hogrefe of Cameron, OK, sixteen grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
