Elvin, age 100, passed away at home on Saturday, October 3rd.
He was born in 1926 to William and Myrtle Tardy Frick in New Orleans, LA.
Elvin enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 16 during WWII where he served in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. He was very proud of his service to his country.
Elvin worked for Life of Georgia Insurance Company retiring as district manager. During his 40 year career he earned his CLU degree, taught classes of LUTC and served as President of the organization both in Alexandria, LA and in Fort Smith.
Elvin was a philanthropist who supported many causes close to his heart. He was a founding member of the Johnny Eskew Training Center for special needs children in Alexandria. LA. He was very involved with the Bost program, Marshall’s Museum, and Trinity School, and was a volunteer for 20 years at Mercy hospital. Each was near and dear to his heart.
Mr. Frick was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Smith where he served as an ambassador with the Stevens Ministry, a substitute for an adult SS class, and served on various financial committees instrumental in the funding and implementation of growth of his church.
He was blessed with an ability to sing and would sing to anyone and everyone who would listen…clerks, nurses, friends, and family.
He was a jovial person with a positive attitude. If you knew him, you knew he loved his home state and was good at telling Cajun jokes. He enjoyed playing bridge, Rummikub (which he played daily) and following the stock market; making predictions about it was his favorite pastime.
He is survived by his son Ford Frick(Brenda) of Lafayette La, daughters Shell Frick of Fort Smith, Susan Hines of Brookhaven, MS, Laura Pogue(David) of Kaplan, LA, and Lou Ann Blocker(Carson) of Vancouver, WA, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren, 3 stepchildren, Bill Shumate, David Shumate and Diane Longo, numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
