

Emma Lee Brown Garrett, 74, of Muldrow, Oklahoma went to be with her Creator on May 4, 2017. She was born November 6, 1942 in Charleston, Arkansas to James Howard Brown and Clarice Maxine Strang Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Emma Lee is survived by her two sons, Chandler Grey Garrett of Fort Smith, his wife Rebecca, and their 5 children; Audrey of Fayetteville, Ashton, Lilly, Jack and CJ of the home; and Chasen Brown Garrett of Roland, Oklahoma, his wife Dr. Ana Maria Romo Blas, and their 2 children; Gabriel Romo, and Isabella Sofia of the home; Her two sisters, their husbands, and three nieces.
She was a member of the B’Nai Israel (Children of Israel) Assembly of Poteau, Oklahoma.
She was an interior decorator for many years, and was a graduate of Fort Smith High School of 1960.
Emma Lee was a interior decorator for much of her life as well as a wife, homemaker, mother, and frequent volunteer for many local organizations including the Fort Smith Art Center, PTA, and her local veterans group. She was an avid genealogist. She found great joy in cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 7th from 2-4 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 8th at 10 a.m. at Edwards Funeral Home under their direction, with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery immediately following. Rick Corley will officiate the services.
Pallbearers will be Delmar Edwards III, James Edwards, Ken Howard, Robert Pullen, Col. (Ret.) Bill Womble, and Rick Corley. Honorary Pallbearers are Don Hannegan, David Hardin, Gerold Wilson, Stephen Strang, and the sons of Grover and Aline Fuller.
Lasting memorials may be made to your local veteran’s association, or a local group focusing on childrens’ art.
The family would like to express special thanks to Mercy Hospice, especially Janet and Justin; Ms. Catherine Mercer, and the good nurses and caregivers from Mercy Fort Smith, and St. Francis’ in Tulsa.
A very special thanks to the friends of Emma Lee who have been there for many years providing companionship, love, and compassion throughout her life. She appreciated each one of you. The last 5 months were especially difficult, and a special place is reserved for you in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
