

Ferdinand Dean Hand, 91, of Fort Smith, died November 28, 2011 in Fort Smith. He was born August 21, 1920 in Elkhart, IN to Charles Elemuel and Minnie Helbling Hand. He was a member of Gideon International, a Hospice Volunteer, former Song Director for the First Church of the Nazarene in Hot Spring, AR and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Barbara Hand of the Home; two daughters, Jeanene Godwin of Fort Smith and Nellie and husband John Moseley of Williamsburg, VA; one son, Fred Hand of Pensacola, FL; two brothers, William and John Hand both of Warsaw, IN; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM.
