Floyd Gant was born on June 24th, 1932 in Vaiden, Mississippi to William Preston Gant and Lilly Tullos Gant. He married Mary Wright in Fort Smith, AR on Feb 15, 1956. They shared a deep, lifelong bond, rooted in love and commitment, lasting an incredible 68 years.
He was always the devoted Southern Gentleman that everyone could rely upon. Quick to offer assistance to all in need, without being asked. His work ethic was unmatched. A man of few words, but when he shared they had a lasting impact.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Wright Gant, and his mother, father, and 8 siblings. Floyd is survived by daughters, Sheliah (Rick) Scott, Yvonne (Larry) Pierce, Pam (Ted) Grace, and by 9 grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren. We mourn his passing but take comfort that Floyd is now at peace surrounded by the family and friends that went before and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and family.
All who knew and loved Floyd are welcome to attend and celebrate his life. Services will be held at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel (Ft. Smith), on Monday, October 28th at 12 p.m., and burial at the national cemetery at 1 p.m.
