Freda Ann Almond

Freda Ann Almond, 76, of Fort Smith, was received into the loving arms of her Savior on March 24, 2017, in Fort Smith. She was born July 31, 1940, in Atkins, Arkansas, to the late Francis Earl and Ollie Lavina Harris Wright.

She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Almond; her daughter, Kristi Copeland and her husband David of Searcy, Arkansas; her son, Steven B. Almond and his wife Sue of Lavaca, Arkansas; her sister, Janell Swearingen of Greenwood, Arkansas; a niece, Bryn Butler of Bentonville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Amber Haskins, April McClure, Ashley Reed, Alan Copeland, Blake Almond, London Merrill and Julianne Almond, as well as ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings.

She was a loving wife and mother who dedicated her life to raising her family in the Christian faith and in the church. She absolutely loved and adored her seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and she continued to share the Lord's love with them all. The names Grandmother and Gigi were precious to her.

She was a devoted servant of Christ and the Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church. She did everything from using her creativity to arrange flowers, decorate cakes, design and make worship banners to loading up her car with luggage and kids to take to church camp.

Her faithfulness to Jesus and her unselfish help to others has provided a beautiful legacy that both her family and friends should desire to follow! She will be missed and always cherished.

Funeral services will be 10:30am Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend David Copeland and Reverend Will Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith. The family will greet friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Monday, March 27, 2017 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
