Gary Edward Vaughn passed away on September 15, 2026, at the age of 84. Gary was born on November 12, 1941, in Greenwood, Arkansas to the late William Edward Vaughn and Doris Gene Brown. He is preceded in death by siblings Marius Vaughn, Billy Vaughn, and Debbie Thornburg (Vaughn), wife Kathy Vaughn, and daughter Roni Vaughn.
Growing up in Fort Smith, he graduated from Northside High School in 1960. While he moved to different states for work, he always came home to Arkansas. He was a hardworking, loyal businessman and friend. He was a proud father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather. After years spent working in the steel industry and as a business owner, he spent his later years at ball fields and cheer competitions watching his grandchildren. You could find him writing stories at home, at Golden Corral or Miss Anna’s, but never at Calico County.
Gary loved nothing more than being a father and “Bubbles” to his grandchildren. Once known as Gary to many, he became recognized as Bubbles for the last nearly 29 years of his life. This was a name he wore with pride, on belts, hats, and in his heart.
He is survived by his son Mike Vaughn and daughter-in-law Tammy Vaughn of Little Rock, daughter Tori Bray and husband Gary Bray of Eatonton, Georgia. Five grandchildren, Mason Vaughn (Katherine), Gracie Vaughn, Clint Brown (Nicole), Derek Bray (Danielle), and Katie Riemenschneider (Justin). Seven great grandchildren, Kathryn, Blake, Aubrey, Paisley, Levi, Charlotte, and Molly. One brother, Larry Vaughn of Jenny Lind. One special niece Brandy Jones (Justin) and her children Adymae, Millie, and Louie. He also leaves behind lifelong friends.
Pallbearers include Mason Vaughn, Derek Bray, Clint Brown, Bryan Long, Justin Jones, Marty Houston, Jeff LaRocca, and Brend Park. Honorary pallbearers include Billy Wilfong, Wendell Daws, and Jim Priest.
