Goldie Irene Newton

Goldie Irene Newton passed away December 1, 2011 in Medi-Home of Arkoma at age 92. She is the widow of Matt “Doc” Newton in 1982. Also, preceding her in death were 7 siblings. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist in Arkoma over 30 years. Goldie was a homemaker, making a large garden with her husband, canning her vegetables and giving fresh produce to many relatives and friends. She never learned to drive until her 50’s and in her mid 70’s decided she wanted to learn crochet. He daughter-in-law taught her, and she made several afghans of which she was so proud.

Services will be 1:00 PM Monday at Woodlawn Memorial Park Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith. Viewing will be 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Her survivors are son Clyde & his wife Joyce Newton of Pocola, granddaughter Teresa & her husband Bodie Perkins of Pocola, and her great grandson Brandon Perkins of Pocola.
