Guy Gilbert Taylor, 93, of Cameron, Oklahoma passed away May 7, 2022 at his home. He was born January 13, 1929 in Red Land, Oklahoma to John and Cleo Taylor. Guy served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. His love for riding horses led him to joining the Sebastian County Mounted Patrol. He was a Quality Control Inspector for Trane Technologies until his retirement in 1999. In June, Guy was to be awarded a plaque by Governor Kevin Stitt for being the oldest citizen of Rock Island, Oklahoma. He was proud of his beliefs, and his strong Pentecostal faith. Guy was a good man and loving father and grandpa. He will be greatly missed.
Guy was preceded in death by his wife Edra Brown Taylor; great grandson Jaxson Gavin; his brother Junior Taylor, and his sisters Virginia Chambers and Ruth Williams. He leaves behind four daughters, Gladys Walker of Cameron, Betty Graham of Cameron, Donna and husband Ed Anderson of Barling and Shirley and husband Jerry Calma of Cameron; 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; three sisters, Linda Bland of Fort Smith, Mary Hartley of Fort Smith and Betty Taylor; as well as several nieces, nephews and a lot of friends.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following at Fort Smith National Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Edwards Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
