Harold Lee Cameron, 89, of Fort Smith, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021. He was born on December 12, 1931 in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma to the late Albert and Elsie Cameron. Harold earned a BA, MA and was working on his PhD. He was a college administrator and teacher for Westark Community College, now the University of Arkansas in Fort Smith, where he taught math and served as Dean of Students for over 10 years. He was active in the community, working and being involved with the Oklahoma for Indian Opportunity, developing programs to help better the lives of Native Americans in Oklahoma. In 1975, Harold was the head of education for the Vietnamese refugees that came to Ft. Chaffee after the fall of Saigon to the North Vietnamese Communist Forces. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Keith Cameron.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Thuy, of the home; a daughter, Pam Nelson (Sam) of Fort Smith; a son, Gary Cameron (Sharla) of Fort Smith; six grandchildren, Jenny Hawley, Greg Nelson, Jason Cameron, Paul Bradley Cameron, Sierra Cameron and Doran Cameron, along with several great grandchildren.
There are no services scheduled, cremation arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
