Harold Arthur Nicholas

born on January 29, 1921 in Mount Ida, AR to James and Lucy Nicholas. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and retired from Getty Oil after 30 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving from 1941 to 1945 on the USS Yarnall DD541 and the USS Salt Lake City CA25. He received the Navy Unit Commendation Award for outstanding heroism while serving on the Salt Lake City.

Services with military honors will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the U.S. National Cemetery Pavilion in Fort Smith. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary E. Nicholas and many other family and friends.

Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the Mortuary.
