Henry R Anderson, 93 of Barling, AR passed away Friday February 21, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice Anderson on August 23, 2011. Mr. Anderson honorably served his country in World War II from January 1943 to November 1948. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and 5 Bronze Service Stars for his campaigns in Ardennes, Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe and Rhinelands. He was also was entitled to wear the ribbons for American Theater campaign, European African Middle Eastern Theater campaign, three overseas Service Bars and a Victory ribbon. Mr. Anderson participated in the landing at Omaha Beach. Mr. Anderson was very proud to have served in the Army Corps as a fuel truck driver for General Patton. He is survived by his son Andy Anderson and his wife Merry Beth of Barling, Ar. and his daughter Jean McMath and her husband Wallis of The Woodlands, TX; two brothers, Dave and J.W. Anderson, both of Pine bluff; his sister-in-law Erma Smith of Fort Smith, Ar.; Nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The Funeral service will be held at 12:30pm on Tuesday February 25th at Eastside Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Drew Super. Interment will immediately follow at National Cemetery in Fort Smith with military honors. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Pallbears will be his son Andy Anderson and his grandsons Charlie Anderson, Dustin Anderson, Casey Anderson, Gregg Ward, David Ward.
