

Hester Rabon Detweiler, 84, of Fort Smith, died January 24, 2013 in Fort Smith. She was born June 4, 1928 in Kinta, Oklahoma to Preston M. and Colene Horton Rabon. She was a graduate of Stigler High School and attended Eastern A. & M. where she received her Bachelor’s Degree and she later earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Northeastern Oklahoma State University. She retired as a school teacher in 1985 after serving in the Hodgen, Oklahoma Junior High and Kimmons Junior High in Fort Smith. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Smith. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States in their R.V., and while at home she loved gardening, music, the arts, decorating, television, and church activities as a former member of both Dallas Oaks Presbyterian Church and the Mountainburg Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Detwieler of Fort Smith; one brother, Charles R. and wife Dottie Rabon of Kingfisher, OK and nieces Rebecca and Rose. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearer will be Heath Arnold
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 5-7 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
