Nelson as he was known to his family and friends, met the love of his life in high school, they were married shortly after graduation, and recently celebrated 65 wonderful years together. After a stint in the Army as a guardsman, he returned to Fort Smith where he and his wife began their life and raised their family. Nelson loved the outdoors, sharing that passion with his family. They traveled, fished, hunted and camped their way around the states.
Nelson worked many years as a salesman traveling the road. He started with Mid-West Upholstery, later to retire from Flanders Industry. Not one to sit still for long, Nelson began the journey of self employment. His first endeavor was Classic Limousine, which lead to R-Ads signs following up with his third and final business Aladdin Lamps.
Nelson spent his retirement years volunteering at his church, feeding the homeless, traveling with mission teams, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Dottie, of the home; his daughter, Lana Kimes- Bailey of Fort Smith; his son, Lance Kimes and his wife Karen, of Lavaca. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Kara Kimes, Chandler Bailey, Zachary Kimes, Samantha Cummings and her husband Ty, and Jordan Bailey along with one great grandchild, Miles Cummings.
