Born March 27, 1974 in Pontiac, Illinois at 8:50 PM to David Lee McElroy and Mary Dyanna Davis. He left this earth on April 20, 2017 at 8:50 PM. He leaves behind the love of his life, Cassandra James, both his loving mother and father, his brothers; Steven McElroy and his wife Charity; David McElroy, his sisters; Kristen Robison and Thomas-Ann Birdsong Miller, his beloved nephew Joey McElroy and many more family and friends, too numerous to name, that loved him deeply.
He goes on to join Our Father God and the loved ones who have gone before; his Grandparents Kenny and "Granny" Ann Robison and his Aunt Shirley Chamness. Jimmy will be there awaiting us all when it is our turn as well, to rest.
It was a hard journey and a bitter struggle and only God has the answers to "why"? But Jimmy never gave up. His kindness, caring heart and dedication to family marked his life. He was a good man.
Jimmy grew up in Southern Illinois and upon his request in his final moments, his ashes will be returned to where he was happiest.
Memorial services will be held at Rocks Springs, in Thebes, Illinois on August 21, 2017 at 1:30 PM. Any and all are welcome to join us in honoring his life.
"Invictus"
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
William Ernest Henley
"But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves led out to pasture." Malachi 4:2
