James Robert McGowan, 94, of Fort Smith, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 in Fort Smith. He was born in Dublin, Georgia on December 15, 1916 to William Johnson and Maude Stuckey McGowan. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II, he was a retired Division Manager for UST, Inc, he was a Mason and was of the Baptist Faith.
He is survived by two sons, Larry and his wife Sandy, and Pat and his wife Charlotte Cecille, all of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Todd, Tom, and Amy McGowan and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha McGowan; his parents, W.J. and Maude Stuckey McGowan; and three grandchildren, Robert, Matthew, and Annabeth McGowan.
Graveside service will be Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
