James Cleo Snuggs, 81, of Fort Smith passed from this life March 14, 2019 in Fort Smith. He was born March 16, 1937, in Ola, Arkansas, to the late Clifton and Vee Garner Snuggs. James was an active member and deacon at Grand Avenue Baptist Church, as well as avid outdoorsman. His passion was the time spent coaching church league baseball. James was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife Violet; daughter Tonya Snuggs of Greenwood; brother Gene Snuggs of Oklahoma; a special nephew Jimmy Snuggs of Chickasha, Oklahoma; three favorite sisters-in-law, as well as a bunch of favorite nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents, his son Clifton Snuggs and a brother, Sid Snuggs.
Graveside services, with U.S. Navy Honors, will be 10:00am Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of John Taylor’s Sunday School Class from Grand Avenue Baptist Church.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Helping Hand Ministry, Grand Avenue Baptist Church, 3900 Grand Avenue, Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
