Janet Riggs, 61, of Fort Smith, passed away Wednesday, April 9th, 2014, in Fort Smith. She was born December 6th, 1952 in Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth P. Staton and a sister Suzanne Ware. Memorial service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, April 12th, 2014, at Heritage United Methodist Church, 1604 Pointer Trail, Van Buren, AR with Pastor Wes Williard officiating. Interment will be 11:00 AM Monday, April 14th, 2014, at Fort Smith National Cemetery. Cremation and interment are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith. She is survived by her husband Thomas, daughter Sara Essig of Denver, CO, son John Riggs of Milliken, CO, mother Ruth Morrison of Van Buren, sisters Karen Farmer and Elaine Barham of Van Buren and nine grandchildren. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM in the Parlor of Central Presbyterian Church, 2901 Rogers Ave., Fort Smith, AR.
