Janice Tanner

Janice R. Tanner passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, at the age of 74. She was born on December 10, 1948, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to her parents, Roscoe Woodard and Hazel Lovett

Janice graduated from Southside High School class of 1967. She had a fulfilling career as a Bank Manager at Arvest Bank, where she always made a positive impact on the lives of her colleagues and customers. She was known for her dedication and wonderful personality.

Outside of her professional life, Janice had a variety of hobbies that brought her joy. She was an avid reader and loved challenging herself with trivia by watching the TV show Jeopardy and playing Trivial Pursuit. Janice also had a deep appreciation for classic movies. Music played a significant role in her life, and she enjoyed listening to rock-n-roll legends like The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Buddy Holly, Elvis, Otis Redding, The Bee Gees, Prince, and that Motown sound. Additionally, she had a fondness for country music, ranging from Patsy Cline to Garth Brooks, George Jones, and the legendary Hank Williams Sr.

Janice is survived by her son, Brian Tanner, of Barling, Arkansas, her granddaughter, Rachel Tanner, of Scottsburg, Indiana, and her brother, L.B Woodard, of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Her sister Shelia Saunders and three nieces Julie Timmerman, Angela Woodard and Kelly Burdeaux. She was preceded in death by her father, Roscoe Woodard, her mother, Hazel Nicholson, and her brother, Donnie Woodard.

A funeral service to honor Janice's life will be held at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on Monday, September 18th, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, a cause that was close to Janice's heart.

Janice R. Tanner will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her memory will live on through the love and cherished moments shared with her loved ones.
