

Jerry Mack Bell, Sr., of Fort Smith, was born on June 22, 1939, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Hershel and Jane Shepard Bell, and passed away in Fort Smith on Saturday, August 28, 2010. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church fo Fort Smith. He earned a business degree from Texas Tech university in 1961. After serving as an officer in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps, he moved to Fort Smith in 1964. He was a retired ABF Director.
Throughout his life, Jerry was an avid photographer and an accomplished musician on the guitar, piano, and drums. He also had a talent for stonework in landscaping, and left a legacy through his extensive writing about his life and the lives of his family. He enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in their endeavors; and he was involved in local performing arts and served as a Boy Scout Leader.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Marilyn; 3 sons, Tony and wife Sharon of Russellville; Edward and wife Angela of Austin, Texas; and Jay and wife Amanda of Bentonville; 5 grandchildren, Nathan, David, Emily, Adam, and Katie; and a brother, Don and wife Teresa of Arlington, Texas.
Graveside service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 31 at the U.S. National Cemetery of Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home, Fort Smith.
Family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 7 pm at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 N. 12th, Fort Smith
