Jo Ann Angeletti Neumeier, 79, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on July 22, 2023 at home with her family. “Jody” was born July 31, 1943 in Fort Smith to Joe Angeletti and Josephine Louise Maestri Angeletti. Raised in Greenwood, Arkansas, Jody was a proud Greenwood Bulldog. Her classmates and the Greenwood Class of 1961 were some of her lifelong friends.
Although Jody wore many hats and held many titles, “Mom” was her most important job of all. She was the proud mother to her late son William August “Bill” Neumeier Jr., son Joseph Herman Neumeier, daughter Lisa Neumeier Bobel Hearn, and late daughter Rose Therese Neumeier. Jody also took pride in the decision that she and her husband Bill made to take guardianship of Christopher Morris Cochran at an important time in his childhood.
Jody and Bill were indeed the perfect team with not only the accomplishment of 60 years in marriage, but also business partners from the very beginning to the end with Neumeier Nursery from 1968 to 2022. She was the creative mind behind purchasing shop items, bookkeeping, planning fall festivals events, and picking the perfect accents for every garden show. To take a walk through Jody’s garden would show anyone that this woman was a true visionary.
Jody had an innate talent for gathering family together for special occasions, from flawlessly decorated events such as family lunches to her annual Christmas Eve parties. This was just one of her many gifts that will be greatly missed.
We take comfort in knowing Jody is joined with our heavenly Father, her parents, her sister Mary Lena Angeletti, and her two children.
Jo Ann is lovingly remembered and survived by her husband William August “Bill” Neumeier Sr., son Joseph Neumeier and wife Linda of Fort Smith, and daughter Lisa Neumeier Bobel Hearn and husband Tim Hearn of Fort Smith. Surviving grandchildren and great-grandchildren are Andrew Bobel and wife Caitlin and their son August of Troy, Michigan, Callie Neumeier Ingram and husband Jesse and their daughter Posy of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Hunter Bobel and wife Roxanna of Fort Smith, and Benjamin Neumeier and fiancée Hannah Payne of Mulberry, Arkansas.
Public Viewing will be on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Edwards Funeral Home from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 for a Rosary at 10:00 am, and the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with a private burial to follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
