Joanie Bahsoon

Darlene Joan Radek Durham Bahsoon “Joanie”, 58, of Fort Smith AR went home to be with the Lord on Sunday December 19 2021. She was born January 13, 1963 in Tacoma WA to Clarence and Darlene Durham. She graduated high school from Northside Christian Academy in 1981 and Ouachita Baptist University in 1986.

She recently retired from Fort Smith Public Schools after 34 wonderful years of teaching elementary and touching the lives of students and their families alike. She was a member of First Baptist Church Fort Smith and also attended Community Bible. She had a passion for serving and helping others, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family. Her hospitable spirit and infectious personality reflected her walk with Christ. She loved watching her children play sports and had a passion for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Joanie was preceded in death by her father Clarence Durham and mother in law Fadwa Bahsoon. Joanie is survived by her husband Alie, her son Matthew Bahsoon of Fayetteville AR, her daughter Lauren and husband Jason Cassady of Orlando FL; her mother Darlene Durham of Fort Smith, brother Frank Durham of Greenwood AR, sister April Durham of Denver CO, sister Carol and husband Jerry McClain and daughter Victoriia; and cousin Danny Brasher of Greenwood AR.

Celebration of life will be Thursday December 23rd at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church Fort Smith with private family burial at Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 22nd from 5-7 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at UAMS Little Rock AR.
