John was a student at Darby Junior High where he daily challenged and entertained his teachers and coaches. He loved to create art and was looking forward to displaying his art at a RAM Art Show in January 2022. But most of all, John was a child of God. He and his parents belong to the First Lutheran Church family in Fort Smith.
John was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Ted Allen Wyatt; his paternal grandparents Wesley and Nancy Hass; and five younger siblings we never got to hold. John celebrated each pregnancy and loss with us and was the one who would comfort his mom, reminding her that the baby was with Jesus and she didn’t need to be sad.
John is survived by his parents; maternal grandmother Ida Wyatt; eight uncles and aunts; thirteen cousins; his godparents Larry and Angie Sipe; and many cherished friends who loved him dearly.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at 5:00pm on Thursday, October 7, at First Lutheran Church, 1115 D Street North, Fort Smith, Arkansas. All are welcome to stay for a light meal after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, Camp Barnabas, or the Deaf Community Coalition of Fort Smith.
The family would like to thank those at Darby who allowed John to be John and loved him for it, especially Coach Johnson and Coach Neumeier, Officer Beaver, Ms. Patterson, Ms. Newman, Nurse Charlie, and John’s interpreter Penny Wogemot. They also thank all the friends who came to visit John at home in his final days.
