John Holley, 81 of Fort Smith passed away Monday, November 19, 2012. He was born February 9, 1931 in Fort Smith to the late Ray and Esther Holley. He went to school in Mansfield and then to Carl Albert Junior College. He was a member of Westark Church of Christ and was a loving husband and father. He was an Army Veteran (Sgt. 1st Class) of the Korean War, a member of the American Legion and a retired mechanic for Riggs Tractor. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his three brothers: Horace, Fred, and Howard Holley.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Fort Smith National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife Anna of the home, three daughters: Peggy Fortner and her husband Bryan of Fort Smith, Cindy Holley of Hackett, and Teresa Peters and her husband Christopher Scott of Parks. John is also survived by five granddaughters: Holly Jones, Jesse Bolin, Rachel Wooten, Andrea Glass, and Rebecca Phillips as well as 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the funeral home.
