

After a life well lived, John Paul Rissinger entered his rest on October 24, 2023, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born September 1, 1941, in Hackett, AR,and was the fifth child and only son to John Luther Risinger and Olah Dugan. John grew up in Hackett and Mansfield, graduating with the Mansfield class of 1959. He later completed his education at the college of the Ozarks.
John was a veteran and a true patriot of the United States Air Force during the Cuban missile crisis and the Vietnam era, and served as a radar operator. Following his military service, John spent 34 years in public service with the US Postal service retiring as Waldron postmaster in 2000. Some of his retirement years were spent volunteering at the front desk of Mercy Hospital as well as being a member of multiple senior bowling leagues at Bowling World. He attended Covenant Presbyterian Church.
John’s unwavering commitment to his family is his true legacy. His love and dedication to his family were inspirational. He was a loving provider of his wife of 61 years. He was a man of faith and strong principle. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Rita Sue Williams; two sons, Kelvin Rissinger and Darin Rissinger; six grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Ruth Bucella of Midland, AR.
John will be missed greatly, but all can be comforted in knowing that he was a Christian man and is free from pain and with the good Lord Jesus.
Graveside Service will be 10 AM Friday, October 27, 2023, at Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
