Joseph Alfred Meyers, age 89, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away on November 14, 2021. A private Mass of Christian Burial is taking place in Loveland, Colorado. Internment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
Joe was born on December 8, 1931, in Arkoma, Oklahoma to Mary and John Meyers. He attended St. Boniface Grade School and St. Anne’s Academy in Ft. Smith. He served in the Korean War as a member of the U. S. Army. When he was about 12 years old, Joe started working part time in his brother’s grocery store. Joe was a freight hauler during most of his career, working for England Brothers, Gordon Transport, Central Transport and Yellow Freight. He retired in 1987 in support of his wife’s career with moves to Gering, Nebraska and St. Paul, Minnesota. Joe and his wife moved to Colorado in August, 2006.
He is survived by his wife JoAnn; children, Larry Meyers, Raymond Meyers (Kim), and Robin Malone (Mike); four grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and brothers J.P. (Romie) Meyers and Pat Meyers. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Meyers, Greg Meyers, George Meyers, J.B. Meyers; sisters, Christine Klimpt and Margaret Schlag; and infant daughter Deborah Ann Meyers.
Rosary will be Monday, November 22, 2021 at 1:00pm at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, with U. S. Army Honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Church in Fort Smith or St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland, Colorado where Joe was a member.
